    LASELL UNIVERSITY

    GRADUATE STUDENT HOUSING AGREEMENT 2024-2025

Residency at Lasell University is a privilege and not a right. It is granted by the Office of Admission and maintained by the Office of Residential Life. This agreement neither creates nor intends to create a landlord-tenant relationship between Lasell University and residents.

Room and board costs for the academic year will vary by room size. For the 2024-2025 academic year (August 31, 2024 – May 6, or May 10, 2025 if graduating), Room and Board for a Regular single is $9750 (approximately $1084 per month); a Large single is $10,650 (approximately $1184 per month); an Extra-Large single is $11,550 (approximately $1284 per month) and a shared Large Double is $7900 (approximately $878 per month). A summer Housing contract (May 11 – August 31, 2025) will also be available. All graduate students will be assigned to live in Haskell House or Spence House for the Academic Year.

Only graduate students who are enrolled in and successfully complete 9 or more credit hours per semester may reside in University-owned/operated buildings. Students may not take up residency in any room other than the one to which they have been assigned.

By signing this Housing Agreement, the person whose signature appears below agrees to commit to room and board charges for the entire 2024-25 academic year. An individual may be released from the Housing Agreement, without penalty, if the student: does not register for full-time coursework at Lasell; graduates; is involved in a full-time internship or clinical placement; is academically suspended or dismissed; or is suspended or dismissed through the Graduate Conduct System (see below) prior to the start of a semester. Students who wish to be released from their Housing Agreement for any of these acceptable reasons must notify the Office of Residential Life and the Vice President of Graduate and Professional Studies in writing by August 15 (for the fall semester) or December 15 (for the spring semester); students who fail to do so will be liable for a $1000 penalty charge.

For reasons other than those stated above, students may petition in writing to be released from their Housing Agreement prior to the end of the Add/Drop period. Consideration will be given to students who can document a change in their physical, financial or personal situations that is beyond their control. Students who walk-away from their Housing Agreement are liable for a penalty charge not to exceed 25% of the total room and board cost for which they are responsible. Any student who changes their status from resident to commuter after the Add/Drop period will be responsible for 100% of the room and board charges for the semester.

The residential experience provides an important foundation for overall academic and social success. As an integral part of our living and learning environment, students can expect an inclusive living environment fully supporting all students regardless of their gender, gender identity or gender expression. In order to negate the systematic barriers faced by queer, gender-nonconforming and transgendered individuals when attempting to access safe housing; Lasell is a Gender Inclusive Housing community.

Graduate Conduct System: The graduate conduct system will follow the same guidelines, structure, and protocol of the Undergraduate Conduct System. However, appeals will be addressed to the Vice President of Graduate and Professional Studies.

Students who officially withdraw from the University must vacate housing and relinquish their board plan within 48 hours after their withdrawal is finalized. Students who remain in housing and continue to use the dining services after an official withdrawal from the University, will be held liable for room and board charges.
